Lake Nakuru National Park
Wildlife | Safari | Scenic
Kenya’s second most visited park, just one hour from Naivasha. Home to flamingos, the Big Five, and some of the Rift Valley’s most dramatic landscapes.
Lake Nakuru is Kenya’s second most visited national park, and for good reason.
Flamingos are its emblem—sometimes thousands, sometimes millions, fringing the alkaline lake in a band of living pink. But the park is far more than its famous birdlife. It is one of Kenya’s premier rhino sanctuaries, where both black and white rhino roam protected woodlands. Lion here have learned to climb fig trees, draping themselves over branches in the afternoon heat. Leopard are regularly sighted along Baboon Cliffs.
The lake itself shifts with the rains. In wet years, it swells and deepens; in dry years, the soda mudflats expand and the flamingos concentrate. Every visit is different. Every visit surprises.
