Boat Safari
Wildlife | Scenic | Water
There is no better way to see the famous Naivasha hippos than on a boat safari. With daily departures right from our lakefront, step onto your private boat and push off into quiet waters. Within minutes, the wild begins. Hippos surface and submerge close by. Fish eagles perch in dead acacias, waiting to call. Kingfishers and cormorants work the shallows. Your guide knows the lake’s moods and its inhabitants—every bird, every story. Maximum 7 guests per boat for an intimate experience.

THE EXPERIENCE
Departure from Enashipai Lakefront
Your safari begins steps from your accommodation. Walk down to our private lakefront, where your boat and captain await. Life jackets are provided and fitted—especially important for little ones. As you push off, the water opens before you.
Into the Wild
Within minutes, the first hippo pod appears. These massive creatures surface with a sigh, watching you with ancient eyes. Your captain knows exactly how close is safe, how close is respectful. He knows where the pods gather, which channels hold the best birdlife, where the fish eagles nest.
Birdlife Abundant
Lake Naivasha is a birders’ paradise. Your guide points out:
- African fish eagles—listen for their distinctive call
- Pied and malachite kingfishers, flashes of colour above the water
- Great cormorants and long-tailed cormorants
- African spoonbills, sacred ibis, and yellow-billed storks
- Perhaps the majestic African marsh harrier
The Lake’s Edges
You cruise past papyrus beds where secretive birds hide. You glimpse the distant escarpment, the landscape that cradles the lake. Your captain shares stories: how the lake levels rise and fall with the rains, the history of the region, the creatures that depend on these waters.
Return
All too soon, the resort comes back into view. But the images remain—hippos sinking beneath glassy water, an eagle’s perfect dive, the light on the lake at golden hour.
